Questo weekend si conclude la stagione 2010 dell’International GT Open e Marco Frezza è pronto alla sfida. L’arma: la consueta Ferrari 430 GT3 del team svizzero Kessel Racing. Il compagno di equipaggio: di nuovo Niki Cadei. Il teatro: il Circuit de Catalunya a Barcellona. “Come Spa-Francorchamps, è uno dei miei circuiti preferiti,” spiega il pilota lombardo. “Un tracciato tecnico e veloce, su cui mi sono sempre trovato a mio agio.” Sarà un caso, ma proprio sul tracciato belga, Marco aprì la sua striscia positiva di vittorie con il primo successo nella categoria, a cui ne hanno fatto seguito altri due, l’ultimo proprio nella gara di casa a Monza. Gli occhi non possono che essere puntati sull’obiettivo massimo: il titolo di classe GTS. La classifica vede ancora comandare il rivale di tutta la stagione, Jean-Philippe Dayrault, con 76 punti, davanti ai compagni di squadra di Marco, Livio-Bontempelli, a quota 68, tallonati da Frezza con 66 lunghezze. Insomma, i giochi sono ancora aperti. Tutto si deciderà nelle due manche in Spagna. L’approccio di Marco, alla vigilia del weekend, è aggressivo ma giudizioso: “Io e Niki faremo un lavoro eccezionale, ma per ora penso solo alla gara. Il massimo che io possa fare, per quel che mi riguarda, è tentare di ottenere il risultato più elevato possibile in gara. Poi, i calcoli li faremo alla fine.” La gara catalana sarà un evento eccezionale, con ben 42 vetture iscritte (le gare saranno perciò divise tra la categoria Super GT e la GTS) e una serie di nomi di prestigio come wild card: ricordiamo tra gli altri il pluri-iridato rally Sebastien Loeb e l’ex pilota di Formula 1 Nelsinho Piquet. Questi piloti, presenti solo per questa gara, non potranno però prendere né togliere punti per il campionato, per assicurare una lotta corretta. English version The moment of truth This weekend will be the last for the 2010 International GT Open season and Marco Frezza is ready for the challenge. His weapon: the usual Ferrari 430 GT3 of the Swiss Kessel Racing team. His team-mate: again Niki Cadei. The theatre: Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona. “As Spa-Francorchamps, this is one of my favourite circuits,” the Italian driver explains. “A technical and fast track, where I’ve always found myself well.” Don’t forget that the Belgian track was the one where Marco opened his win totale with his first victory in this category, followed by two others, the latest one in his home race in Monza. The aim is set to the top goal: the GTS-class title. Leading the standings is still his season rivale, Jean-Philippe Dayrault, with 76 points, ahead of Marco’s team-mates, Livio-Bontempelli, with 68, and Frezza very close with 66. The game is still open. And the two races in Spain will be decisive. Marco’s attitude before the weekend is aggressive but sensible: “Me and Niki will do an exceptional job, but so far I’m just thinking to the race. The best I can do myself is trying to get the top result in the race. Then we’ll do the calculation.” The Catalan race will be an exceptional event, with as much as 42 entrants (the races will be divided between Super GT and GTS categories) and some big names as wild cards: we remember among the other ones the multiple rally champion Sebastien Loeb and former Formula One driver Nelsinho Piquet. Those drivers, taking part just to this race, won’t be able to take nor block points for the championship, thus securing a fair battle.
