Frezza concede il bis

A due settimane dal primo successo in carriera nell'International GT Open a Spa-Francorchamps, arriva subito il bis per Marco Frezza, che sul tracciato francese di Magny-Cours porta a casa un altro risultato assolutamente analogo a quello belga: un primo e un quarto posto nelle due gare. Il pilota milanese del team Kessel Racing, su Ferrari 430 GT3 che condivide con il portoghese Pedro Couceiro, manda in archivio favorevolmente il fine settimana transalpino. "Sono molto contento," spiega. "Ripetendo il risultato di Spa, siamo riusciti ancora ad evitare handicap di tempo per il prossimo weekend di Brands Hatch. Insomma, tutto procede per il meglio." La vittoria nella prima gara del weekend non è stata mai in discussione: Marco Frezza, che ha preso la guida della vettura alla partenza e nel primo stint di gara, ha messo pressione sul rivale e leader di campionato Dayrault per la terza posizione assoluta e prima di classe GTS fin dal via, riuscendo poi nel sorpasso decisivo al quinto giro. "Ho fatto una bella partenza, mentre Dayrault non altrettanto," racconta Marco. "Poi, da quando ho preso il comando della categoria, non c'è stato più nulla da fare per gli altri. Ho tenuto tranquillamente la testa per tutto il mio stint e, quando ho ceduto il volante a Pedro, lui è riuscito a fare lo stesso." Ben più travagliato, invece, l'andamento della gara-2 della domenica: "Stavolta è stato Pedro a partire, ma dopo soli due giri è stato tamponato e così è finito in fondo al gruppo. Siamo stati costretti a recuperare, ma abbiamo compiuto una bella rimonta e alla fine abbiamo agguantato il quarto posto." Così, dopo aver brevemente mantenuto la leadership di campionato dopo la corsa del sabato, al termine del weekend Frezza si ritrova esattamente nella stessa situazione che vigeva precedentemente: al secondo posto, all'inseguimento di Dayrault, con due soli punti di distacco. "Manco a dirlo, il nostro obiettivo non è cambiato: restiamo in lotta per il titolo!"

English version Frezza gets another win Two weeks after his first carreer win in International GT Open in Spa-Francorchamps, Marco Frezza immediately gets another one in Magny-Cours, with the exactly same result as in the Belgian track: a first and a fourth place in the two races. The Italian driver of the Kessel Racing team, driving a Ferrari 430 GT3 together with the Portuguese Pedro Couceiro, gives a satisfying evaluation of the French weekend. "I'm very happy," he explaines. "By repeating the result from Spa, we again managed to avoid time handicaps for the next weekend in Brands Hatch. So everything is going for the best." The win in the first race of the weekend was never in discussion: Marco Frezza, who took the drive of the car at the start and in the first stint of the race, pressured his rival and championship leader Dayrault for the third overall position and first in GTS class right from the start, then managing to do the decisive overtaking in the fifth lap. "I did a great start, while Dayrault didn't do the same," Marco tells. "Then, since I took the leadership of the category, my rivals couldn't do anything. I kept the head of the GTS class throughout my stint and when I passed the wheel to Pedro, he could do the same." Way more difficult, instead, was Sunday's race-2. "This time Pedro started, but after just two laps he was hit from behind and so ended in the back of the field. We had to recover, but we did a great comeback and in the end we got the fourth place." So, after briefly taking the championship lead after Saturday's race, at the end of the weekend Frezza is exactly in the same situation as before: second in the championship, catching Dayrault, just two points behind. "Useless to say, our goal hasn't changed: we are still battling for the title!"
